Updated statement of Intent

The film I will create is based in the streets of London following the supposed spike in knife crime of recent times. It follows a young boy caught in the crossfire and finding himself becoming involved with the violence. The film follows his journey as he is dragged in and tries to find a way to survive and escape the violent lifestyle.  I am aiming to reinforce stereotypes but put them in a context which is different to the way they are portrayed within mainstream media in order to draw sympathy from the audience. This will relate to Perkins theory that not all stereotypes are true. I intend on doing this through the perspective of the protagonist. Although he commits violent crimes, the reasoning behind it will subvert stereotypes, making the audience feel sorry for him as they will see he is trapped in a cycle .  This will cause  audiences to think about how they would react in the same situation which allows them to relate to the characters, which relates to Bl...

Film posters: Research and planning tasks Create a blogpost called 'Film poster research and pre-production' and work through the following tasks to complete your research and planning for the print side of the brief: Film poster conventions Do some generic research on film posters. 1) List the key conventions of a film poster. Title, tagline, main image, main character, setting, release date, reviews and ratings, institutional details, genre and audience 2) What makes a film poster instantly recognisable? The Godfather The character's black tuxedo fades into the black background. The simplicity keeps the focus on this character showing his importance and domina...

Pre-Production Mise-en-Scene

Costume What will your characters wear? What is the costume supposed to communicate to the audience? How does this link to your Statement of Intent in terms of creating representations? The characters will be wearing common street clothing you see around London which include tracksuits, hoodies and hats. However, some characters will be wearing balaclavas which indicate they are a danger. As 2 of the characters also play football, they will be seen in in football kits as it is equipment they need to play and keeps the realism within the shoot. Lighting How will you light your trailer? Day or night? Interior or exterior? If outside, can you use streetlights, shadows, reflected sunlight or other creative techniques to achieve the lighting style you want? If inside, experiment with creative lighting techniques using windows, blinds, artificial lights, phone flashes and more. As most of the trailer will be shout outside and I don't have access to lighting kits, natural lighting ...
